Last month, we spent one full day out of our 10-day trip to Japan at Tokyo Disneyland and it was truly magical!

It was our first time to this park, and I honestly did not know what to expect. I did my research beforehand, thought I was prepared but I was nowhere close! It was a whirlwind of a day and worth every long line we stood in.
Our day started at 6 AM (cue jetlag) which worked in our favour as we read online that guests start lining up early, like 7 AM early. We got to the park at 7:30 AM and were shocked at the number of people already there! I honestly thought 7 AM was an exaggeration, and boy was I ever wrong. Thankfully, the park typically opens their doors early and with our “Happy Entry” tickets, we waited just 35 minutes before we found ourselves on the other side of the entrance.

First thing we did was beeline it to Beauty and the Beast, arguably the most popular ride at Tokyo Disneyland being it is the only one of its kind in the world. The line had to be at least 300 people deep by the time we found our way to the right place, but the ride was worth every minute of the wait.
We rode in large "Chip" tea cups that fits 10, through an immersive and condense tale of Beauty and the Beast. Everything about this ride was incredible and impressive! It is by far, one of the best rides I have ever ridden!

We were hoping to ride Baymax next but could not justify waiting over 120 minutes. We weren't disappointed though as we began the day knowing and accepting that it was okay if we would not ride all the attractions. We made the most of what we could do and felt great about it.
That said, we ventured over to Toontown and squeezed in both Gadget’s Go Coaster and Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin and a walk-through Chip ‘n Dale’s Treehouse in less than an hour.

Cue lunch break at Huey, Dewey and Louie’s Good Time Cafe, which is famous for their Mickey Glove Chicken Sandwich if the queue was any indication. The sandwich was ah-mazing! The chicken was juicy and tender, the bun soft and fluffy, and presentation was the absolute cutest!

After lunch, we wandered over to Fantasyland for the Disneyland classics - Alice’s Tea Party, Castle Carousel, It’s a Small World, and Pinocchio’s Daring Journey. Thankfully, the wait time for each of these attractions were no more than 25 minutes.

We then circled back to Tomorrowland for Star Tours: The Adventures Continue and Space Mountain, my recommended must rides if you only had time for two attractions in this area of the park. I loved that Space Mountain was the kiddos first rollercoaster, and they loved it so much, it declared their favourite ride! I officially have rollercoaster buddies!

A visit to Disneyland is not complete without sampling some of the snacks unique to the Tokyo Disney Resort, including the limited Double Berry Mickey Macaron that is only available during Tokyo Disneyland’s 40th anniversary celebration. My and Evelyn's personal favourite was the Little Green Men Mochi Dumplings. It comes in three and you get one of each flavour - chocolate, vanilla and strawberry.

Our final ride before calling it quits was Splash Mountain in Critter Country. It was the first time we saw a wait time of less than 40 minutes and who doesn't love a good water log ride?
Our only disappointment was dinner at Chef Mickey, a limited character buffet restaurant located at the Disney Ambassador Hotel. Being this close to Halloween, the restaurant understandably adopted a Halloween theme. We however, were not expecting pumpkin and taro incorporated into most everything or the elevated buffet prices. The price hike was not properly communicated or advertised on the website when I made reservations a month in advance, and it was certainly not reflected in the food selections. The kiddos did get to meet Mickey Mouse briefly for about two minutes so that was something.
Despite this, as far as a first time ever to Tokyo Disneyland goes, today was truly magical!
