Fairfield Niagara Falls by Marriott Hotel Review

I must confess, I had a difficult time choosing a hotel for our recent trip to Niagara Falls. There is no shortage of hotels in Niagara Falls, ranging from ultra budget to luxury. In the end, I booked two nights at the Fairfield Niagara Falls by Marriott, a mid-range hotel located near the entertainment scene in Niagara Falls.

Overview

Fairfield Niagara Falls was recently renovated and that was evident the moment we walked into the lobby. The furnishing and décor was clean and simple with a touch of modern rustic.

On-site amenities include complimentary wi-fi, a heated indoor pool, 24-hour fitness center featuring a Peloton, a business centre, several meeting rooms, a convenience store located next to the front desk, laundry service, and an outdoor patio complete with a fire pit.

The property also features on-site parking, which in reality is kind of off-site. The uncovered surface lot is located around the back and across the street. The self parking fee is $20 per night and we had to use our room key to scan in and out.

Guest Room

Our room was large and spacious. I really like the refurnished look from the oak wood wall panels and cabinetry to the navy marble pattern carpet and the grey tones. The room was equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, a desk and chair, and the kids’ personal favourite, a 55” LED TV with Netflix access.

I personally appreciate the personalized touch on the TV screen. It was a nice welcome.

We were assigned a room around the corner from the elevator on the 11th (top) floor and as this corner room faced south, we were treated with fantastic views of Skylon Tower. The beds were very comfortable with plush pillows and bedding as advertised.

The same modern décor was carried to the bathroom. It was brightly lit with a very spacious shower. However, there were not enough wall hooks to hang up used towels (for a family of four).

Amenities

We managed to squeeze in some time at the pool and had it all to ourselves the entire time. The water was a bit cloudy though, or milky as the kids put it so we kept the swim time to 30 minutes.

The complimentary breakfast buffet was nicely laid out with plenty of choices. There was an assortment of bread, pastries, cereal, yogurt, juices and coffee. Due to Covid restrictions and food safety, breakfast sandwiches were only available upon request. The individually wrapped sandwiches were handed out frozen and needed two minutes in the microwave.

Location

In terms of location, Fairfield Niagara Falls is within walking distance to many restaurants, souvenir and gift shops, and Clifton Hill, the entertainment scene of Niagara Falls and home to one of Canada’s largest observation wheel, Niagara SkyWheel. Niagara Falls, the waterfall, is only a 15-minute walk or a short drive away.

Conclusion

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Fairfield by Marriott Niagara Falls and would recommend staying here if you’re visiting Niagara Falls.
