Our stay at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort was truly amazing! It was the perfect mix of relaxation and fun. Given a chance, we would absolutely return! Here’s why.

Location

The Sheraton Fiji Resort is located on Denarau Island, a small private resort development on the western side of Viti Levu. While technically an island, you don’t need to catch a boat to reach Denarau Island—it is accessible by car via a short causeway over a creek and about 20 minutes from Nadi International Airport.

Denarau Island consists of a residential area, one of Fiji’s premier 18-hole golf course, and Port Denarau Marina, the country’s largest retail and restaurant complex and gateway to exploring the famous islands of Fiji’s Mamanuca and Yasawa chains.

First Impressions

Our first impression was “Wow!” with the gaping mouth. We were awestruck by the sheer size and beauty of the open-air entrance. While the lobby was very grand, it was also very inviting and welcoming.

The staff were friendly and warm, and offered us adults complimentary champagne and the kiddos juice boxes while we checked in. I can’t think of a friendlier welcome!

We even got driven to our room in a golf cart!

Rooms

We stayed in a garden view room on the second floor and loved almost everything about it. Our balcony faced the ocean, providing captivating views of Nadi Bay and the most amazing sunrises every morning. Our room was equipped with a TV (that we never used), a small sitting area, blackout curtains, a hot water kettle to make coffee and tea, a mini fridge stocked with complimentary Fiji water, and signature Sheraton robes.

The bathroom was quite nice and spacious. Bright and modern with wide counter space.

The only thing I didn’t like was the placement of the bed. It was right up next to the door. There was a lack of privacy when the door was slightly ajar, and it attracted unwanted creepy crawlies onto the bed.

Dining

There are three on-site dining options at Sheraton Fiji, a fourth option at the Sheraton Denarau Villas next door and a fifth option at the Denarau Golf & Racquet Club just beyond the main entrance. This is in addition to the 24-hour room service!

Our go to was Island 619, which serves a daily buffet breakfast, the biggest we’ve ever experienced, and a rotating daily schedule of international cuisines served buffet style for dinner. The options were endless, and food was fresh and delicious.

For lunch and afternoon tea, we stuck mostly to 28g, a café located in the lobby that offers all-day deli options ranging from salads and sandwiches to pastries and cake. Service was slow at certain times of the day, but the amazing coffee made up for the wait.

Tatavu Grill & Bar is the third restaurant at Sheraton Fiji, a spacious beachfront restaurant that serves up South American and Fijian fusion cuisine and superb cocktails. The food and service were top notch at all times of the day – breakfast, lunch and dinner. The kiddos got a kick out of the “feet in sand dining” experience. To be honest, I did too.

What’s unique about the dining experience at Sheraton Fiji is the farm to table concept. Sheraton has a five-acre farm that sits on the periphery of the resort where all their herbs and spices are grown organically and used in preparing meals for the guests.

On our last night, we walked over to Denarau Golf to give Heineken House a try. The food and service were just as wonderful.

Swimming Pools

We absolutely love the lagoon style swimming pool! It was big enough for the kiddos to use their floating tubes and not bump into other swimmers while Radwin and I enjoyed a few cocktails at the swim-up bar. Beach loungers and sun umbrellas were set up along the pool edges and plentiful.

For families travelling with babies and toddlers, they have their own separate shallow children’s pool.

A third adults-only pool is tucked away behind Tatavu but it sadly doesn’t have a swim-up bar.

Sheraton Fiji guests are permitted to use any of the pools at Sheraton Denarau Villas, which we did a couple of times. The view from the infinity pool at sunset was spectacular. Want to know a secret? There is a small shop next to the infinity pool that sells superb ice cream and gelato!

Beach Access

Sheraton Fiji has direct access to the beach and ocean. While the beach is on the smaller end of the scale, it is beautiful and very walkable. The ocean waves are very calm in this area, making it perfectly safe for kids to play in.

Entertainment & Activities

We were provided with a weekly activity calendar at check-in. This calendar includes a daily schedule and times of all activities taking place on the resort. The activities were complimentary and ranged from limbo dancing to watermelon bashing, fish feeding to aqua aerobics, cooking class and kava tasting to basket weaving and beach volleyball. Guests are invited to participate in as many or as little activities as they liked.

We participated in one of the cooking classes and learnt how to prepare a cold white fish dish that showcased the fresh flavours of Fiji. It was fun and delicious.

For those that enjoy water sports, there is a small hut near the kids pool that serves as the rental center for kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, surfboards, and seadoos. Fair warning, rental prices are steep.

Sheraton Fiji is also home to Mindflight7, Fiji’s first virtual reality experience. To be honest, we didn’t even notice this until our last day at the resort.

The nightly Fijian fire dance show was a huge hit with the kiddos and very impressive.

Side by Side Kids Club

Side by Side Program is the name of the kids club and activity area located at Sheraton Fiji. This area includes indoor and outdoor space filled with toys, games, a playground, and activities alongside staff to keep kids entertained.

I can’t provide a review of the program since Jordan and Evelyn didn’t have any interest in the kids club. They spent most of their time in the pools or hanging out with us.

Shops

For guest convenience, there are several shops located right at the resort. The shops carry great selections of local and branded clothing, swimwear, perfume and cosmetics, fine jewelry including watches, pool items like swim goggles and floaties, children’s toys, and souvenirs. There’s even a convenience store offering snacks and drinks alongside your everyday basics like toothbrush and sunscreen.

Tours and Excursions

Rosie Holidays has a dedicated concierge desk at the resort to help guests with excursions, cruises and tours as well as transportation to and from Nadi International Airport. We didn’t use their services since the super organized me booked our two excursions weeks in advance. Many other resort guests did and they appeared pretty satisfied.

Guests can also book with any of the tour operators at Port Denarau Marina, the starting point for many of the cruises and tours of the Fijian islands. The marina is located five minutes from the resort and accessible by taxi or the open-air Bula Bus that runs every 15-20 minutes between Denarau Island resorts and the marina.

Final Thoughts

We have a wonderful time and I wholeheartedly recommend Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort! The staff were incredibly nice, the food was delicious, and there was no shortage of things to do at the resort!
