Welcome to my blog, plushies+Postcards! My name is Pauline Wong and I am a full-time working wife and mother of two, who loves to travel. I started this blog to: 1) document and share my travel stories around the globe and in my beautiful backyard, and 2) share my travel experiences and tips with other full-time working families.
I currently live in the same city where I was born and raised, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Edmonton is located in the heart of the Canadian Prairies, approximately 220km east of the Canadian Rockies. I am in my 30s and married to the love of my life, Radwin since 2011. I have travelled to 11 countries, some multiple times, across four continents. Like most, my parents took my siblings (a younger sister and a younger brother) and I on a handful of trips, by car and by plane, when we were kids. But most of my travels were fairly recent, after I started dating my now-husband, and nearly all were with my kids.
When my husband and I got married and started a family (we have one boy and one girl), it never occurred to us that we would stop travelling, especially when the majority of his extended family lives in Brunei and Australia. While travelling is a luxury and a privilege, I truly believe the memories and moments we make through travel are more valuable than material objects and will last a lifetime. And sometimes the reason for travelling is simpler, a need to escape from our regular lives and to decompress just for a little bit.
Jordan, our six-year-old, had his first airplane experience at 18 months when we took him to Brunei to visit his great grandparents and second cousins. We also did a side trip to East Malaysia. Four-year-old Evelyn had her first airplane experience at seven and a half months, to Australia to attend a family wedding, then onto Singapore and Brunei to visit family. When we travel, we tend to be more laid back and prefer to take things slow. So no early morning alarms, unless we scheduled a tour or have a plane to catch, and yes to lazy afternoons and short TV breaks (for the kids) in our hotel room.
Besides traveling, I love reading, specifically romance, romance mysteries, and particular paranormal romances. I am a shopaholic who gets pretty excited when I find bargains, and a huge Marvel fan. I am addicted to cake (all kinds!) and ice cream, and have a soft spot for cute, soft plushies and all things mermaid.
Why plushies+Postcards?
My kids and I are building separate travel souvenir collections to represent our adventures around the globe. The kids collect plushies and magnets while mom here collect postcards and shot glasses, the latter definitely inappropriate for a family travel blog. So, for alliteration sakes, plushies+Postcards was born!
